Ok so I have to admit that I am a FREAK for Halloween! Like Super Duper I start decorating in September and don’t take it down till the first week of November Freak for Halloween! I like to think that once a year I get to transform my house into A Haunted Castle!! The Creepier the better, the Spookier the best, the more horrifying the most fabulous ever! I don’t mean the blood and guts kind of scary house, but I am talking “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson. The first line of that book has to be not only one of the most famous lines in Macabe Genre but it truly leaves you with a lost, and dreadful feeling. “Some houses are just born bad.”
That line sets the tone for the whole book and you know right away that this house has a life of it’s own and an agenda of it’s own. Not only a great book and a couple of spin off Movies, a Stephen King re write “Rose Red”, but it was inspired by the creepiest house in America. The Winchester House. Mrs. Winchester, besot by grief and guilt that she inherited all her wealth through the proffits on the weapon that killed Thousands of Native American’s. She just knew that all those desperate souls were veying to seek revenge from beyond the grave. The Spirits would come to her at night and torment her, she kept building and building and the house kept growing and growing. Yet night after night the spirits kept up their torment of her.
That is the kind of Haunted Castle feeling I want you to feel when you walk through my front door this time of year. To keep my spirits happy and their menacing hijinks to a minimum I ply them with yummy yet spooktacular treats! Gobblins especially love anything sweet and salty. So of course I had to make them their very own special Gorp.
And if you have little Gobblins running around you can portion control in cute halloween baggies! I have these so I can keep the Gobblins under control and not eat all their bribery at once.
You can find me at all these great link parties this week!
